WARNING

Use this version of our software at own risk!

The Berkeley Studio.app is made with Winebottler (“WineBottler packages Windows-based programs like browsers, media players, games or business applications snugly into Mac app-bundles”) using Wine (“a compatibility layer capable of running Windows applications on several POSIX-compliant operating systems, such as Linux, macOS, & BSD”)

  • This is not a native app that is built in a developer tool for macOS.
  • There is limited support for using this application.
  • *.mdl / *.mdlwf files cannot be opened by double-clicking. Use the Studio to open a model.
  • Generated documents with a “Link document” cannot be opened by Word using the Berkeley Runner. Documents will be opened with AbiWord.
  • Documents can be opened manually using Word
  • Use the “fn”-button to use the function keys.
  • Do not try to connect *.mdl / *.mdlwf files to the Berkeley Studio.app it does not work.
  • It’s possible that your Mac cannot open the Studio App. Please read the instructions in the following link to open the Studio App: https://support.apple.com/kb/PH25088
  • First time starting the App the name in the menu bar will display as “Wine” and a popup appears. This is normal because the app needs to be configured so it can be used on your Mac. After relaunching, the App will display “Studio” in the Menu bar.
  • In order to copy and paste text within the Studio you need to use “cmd + C” to copy text and “CTRL + V” to paste text in the Studio.
